Qatar Airways took delivery of its first two Airbus A321s in 2004 and these initial deliveries were in the small logo/small oryx livery.
A further batch of five new build A321s and one former Aero Lloyd aircraft joined the fleet in 2007/2008 and these arrived wearing large logo/large oryx livery.
Another batch of four new aircraft were delivered in 2010 with the first, A7-
The A321 carries a common pilot rating with the smaller A319 and A320 aircraft in the fleet allowing maximum operational flexibility. The aircraft fly in a Two Class 12F/165Y configuration with 45 inch seat pitch in Business Class and 31 inch in Economy. Only some of the fleet have seat back TVs with the remainder having older style drop down screens.
Operations see the aircraft working within the Middle East, to India and on shorter flights into Europe including Istanbul and Moscow.
The large order placed in 2011 for fifty A320NEO aircraft may include further A321 models.
